Hosting design reviews

- A step-by-step guide to an effective review

Event: UX Camp Brighton
Date: April 2022

Talk summary.

Design reviews are integral to the UX design process but without a proper process they can achieve mixed results.

Lack of clear objectives, time mismanagement and inconsistent participant understanding are amongst many reasons a design review can go off the rails.

The goal of this talk is to give you a step-by-step guide to running effective and valuable design reviews, every time.

My design review tools.

In the talk I mention using a problem mapping canvas to help get the participants up to speed with my understanding of the user goals for the project.

Talking through a completed copy of this canvas with all the participants the context they need to give an informed critique of your proposed designs.

Keeping the canvas up to date as you progress will ensure that you are always aware of the goals of your design work.
